In a move that probably comes as no surprise, The Home Depot Inc. announced that it is closing all 34 of its EXPO design centers, including five in Florida. The reason is simple: Those stores just didn’t perform very well.
EXPO was originally intended as an upscale version of Home Depot, even though most shoppers seem to find what they need inside the “orange-box” stores, which are not being affected. The five Florida EXPO stores are: 1520 SW 8th Street, Boynton Beach; 8944 State Road 84, Davie; 5737 NW 7th Street, Miami; 1000 Immokalee Road, Naples; and 4601 Millenia Plaza Way, Orlando. (Plans for a Tampa location never materialized.)
